Poland has experienced a radical political change in 2015:
supported by nationalist minorities, the
conservative party - Law and Justice - (PiS) won the legislative
elections. Led by Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the latter downgrades the EU's
democracy criteria, and continues to ignore among others sexual
minorities.
The LGBTQ community continues to struggle to
secure its fundamental rights despite government's hostile statements. It strives to live through the
promotion of LGBT culture and freedom of speech by NGOs such as KPH -
Kampania Prwzeciw homofobii (Campaign Against Homophobia).
NGOs
and the LGBTQ community wants more dialogue with the government on
discriminatory behavior and fights for anti-LGBT acts must be included
in the criminal code. But the nationalist’s pressures refusing
"homopropaganda", supported by public media, do not show a bright future
for a community wishing to blossom.
